The word Pasadena literally means "valley" in the Ojibwa (Chippewa) Indian language, but it has been interpreted to mean "Crown of the Valley" and "Key of the Valley", hence the adoption of both the crown and the key is the official city seal.

Pasadena is probably most famous for the annual Tournament of Roses and Rose Bowl Game. Yet, the city is also home to the world-renowned California Institute of Technology which manages the JET Propulsion Laboratory.
Pasadena is located just 15 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, Pasadena's popular shops and restaurants blend comfortable with tree-lined streets, distinctive neighborhoods, historic buildings and a vibrant cultural scene.
Pasadena's local government is progressive and extends unmatched customer service in an environment of sound fiscal management.
